Additional information

Robert Jockwer is Associate Professor for Timber Structures in the research group Lightweight Structures at the Division of Structural Engineering at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. He studied Civil Engineering at RWTH University in Aachen, Germany, and did his PhD at ETH Zurich in Switzerland in collaboration with Empa Dübendorf about the fracture, reinforcement and reliability of notched glulam beams.

Since then, he has focused in his research on several fields including the reinforcement of timber structures by means of self-tapping screws in tension and compression, the structural behaviour of high-performance connections, the reliability of timber structures and connections, the robustness of tall timber buildings and also circularity in timber engineering. Robert Jockwer is active amongst others in the international standardisation committees for the revision of Eurocode 5, in COST Action CA20139 “Holistic design of taller timber buildings”, and in RILEM TC TPT “Tests methods for a reliable characterization of resistance, stiffness and deformation properties of timber joints”.

He is active as consulting engineer in the company Timber Hub AB.
