Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

[1] What is the deadline for application? / When do I know for sure whether the programme starts in autumn?

We will launch the programme this autumn if we have a sufficient number of applicants by end of May. Therefore, applications submitted till 27th of May will be considered for that decision (i.e., please do your submission till then). Later submission is possible if the programme will be launched. We will inform about the definitive start of the programme in the first half of June.

[2] Can ECTS credits be recognized for the programme?

The programme has been designed for professionals, who have expertise in parts of the aspects covered by the curriculum, i.e., it is intended that students will get a refresh to a certain extent. ECTS credits can be recognized if 1) they were not acknowledged for passing another programme, and 2) the course content has been qualified by the programme lead to be equivalent to the ETH-level.

[3] What references do I have to hand in?

Provide contact information of your references if you have an university degree at Master’s level. An employer’s reference (Arbeitszeugnis) is required for those without such a degree as a proof of their working experience.

[4] How much can I work besides the course?

It depends on how flexible you can organize your work. We suggest a workload of 60-80% during the course. Alternatively, you may take unpaid leave.

[5] Where does the course take place?

It will take place at ETH Hönggerberg

[6] What skills are needed for the MAS programme?

You should like to deal with numbers since doing natural hazards management in an analytic manner requires math.
