The Treatment of Uncertainties in Large-Scale Stochastic Systems

We thank you all for attending the ICASP11 conference. With over 300 participants it was a great success.

The ICASP Conference secretariat will be closed end of September. If you have any request please send an e-mail to icasp11@ethz.ch before end of September. Thanks Annette Walzer

Abstract

The accurate and efficient treatment of uncertainties in large-scale stochastic systems poses a major challenge in the field of computational stochastic mechanics. Current research efforts concentrate on the development of new and the improvement of existing methods in order to meet the needs of engineering practice. This symposium aims at presenting recent advances in this area. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

• Random field simulation
• Methods for improving the efficiency of Monte Carlo simulation in large-scale applications
• Efficient algorithms to accelerate the solution of the resulting algebraic systems of equations
• Computational methods in stochastic dynamics
• Seismic reliability analysis and risk assessment
• Multiscale methods involving uncertainties
• Microstructure/morphology characterization in random heterogeneous media
• Efficient finite element solution of stochastic partial differential equations
