Abstract

Stahlbau

Cardboards from recycled paper are frequently used in structures e.g. as non-load-bearing wall or door panels. However, there is still a lack of research for the general application of cardboards to be used as load bearing elements.

This project focuses on mechanical properties of new, innovative coated cardboards with a cementitious coating for structural application. Main focus of this project is put on structural design aspects, like mechanical properties of laminated and coated cardboards which can be directly used for construction. Here, different layout schemes of the honeycombs are analysed as well as the influence of long term effects like creep including different storage conditions.

Two different types of honeycomb paper are tested, including tests on the compressive strength and the influence of moisture of uncoated paper cardboards. In addition, the general application of a cementitious coating is analysed, including information on an automatized coating process. In addition to the mechanical properties, the fire resistance of the coated elements is tested in detail as well.
