Research – Activities

Over the past decade, the research focus of the institute was widened, complementing the former, more traditional research fields of structural engineering by new topics such as e.g. monitoring and condition assessment, system identification, hybrid simulation, resilience and uncertainty quantification. At the same time, the competencies in numerical modelling and analysis and the use of computational methods were substantially increased; computational tools developed at the IBK are finding widespread application in academia and industry.

Today, our research combines cutting-edge numerical, analytical and experimental methods and covers a wide range of highly relevant topics in the classic fields of structural engineering and beyond, involving many interdisciplinary collaborations with partners from other departments and universities.
